My music primarily explores the harmonic series and its musical implications. Many of my pieces can be thought of as portraits of the harmonic series, carefully framed, and captured from different angles, with variations in light to draw attention to features specific to each piece. I’m interested in the results of translation between discrete systems of organization, and the messy complexity inherent to imperfection in performance. I’m searching & listening for what sound is trying to say about itself, considering what the limits of our instruments and bodies are, and then working to capture those essences in notation for performers to then communicate to those who are listening.
